    I worked with the Starbucks Digital Partner Design Team to redesign a communication and collaboration product that supports store manager and shift supervisor planning, decision-making, and running the store floor.

I researched and designed for the needs, behaviors, and pain points of city & county website administrators, residents, business owners, and building professionals as they engaged with the services offered by those cities and counties.

    One of the challenges with working in Enterprise design is that each customer may have their own configuration of the product and content that is unique to them. End-users often spend years learning systems and becoming comfortable with how to use them. I created familiar, accessible, designs aimed at retaining the interaction model and using our design system.

    To create useful, familiar and usable designs for a construction mobile inspector app, it was important discover existing task flows, interaction models, and the constraints of the job site. I redesigned the key screens to support being held like a clipboard, high-contrast, comfortable reading experience, requiring minimal scrolling, panning, or tapping of targets based on the discovery research.

    The project goal was to redesign a legacy web product. The original product and development plan was a visual design reskin of the current product with a change in technology. I was able to convince the group to move forward with a change in direction, resulting in an increase in paying customers.

Rather than just adding a technology-driven tweak to existing products, we designed and prototyped a new totally new product capable of spanning multiple generations, with technology evolution enhancing the core experience

    One challenge of UX design is placing it within larger company processes - such as goal setting, benchmarking, and quality.  We created a program of peer review-based competitive analysis that produced actionable recommendations, as well as a quantitative measure used in wider company strategy.

    I worked to understand the needs of people working in the Insurance and Auto Collision organizations helping to reinvent flagship products. I used an adaptation of the User and Task Analysis methods from JoAnn Hackos & Janice Redish for on-site observations and interviews, and for making the transition from synthesis to design.

    I am trained in qualitative and analytical methods that help teams use the scientific process to discover, define, measure, analyze and improve products. My training also include problem-space research methods that help companies find gaps, and serve a full-range of customers, not just the mythical 80%.

    Working on early Mobile Phone digital and physical interfaces. I created designs for voice, data, multimedia, location services, and accessories. I also ran qualitative and quantitative lab-based Usability Studies on hardware and software.
